Please note the usual ukulele strumalong isn’t being replaced. This ‘open mic’ is only for 30 minutes, prior to the normal timed start for the group playing together. If you can’t bear to keep your ukulele in it’s case and listen to other people play a song or two, you can simply arrive at the usual start time to strumalong with everyone as normal. For everyone else…
Due to overwhelming demand, we’re going to start doing a monthly open mic bit 30 mins before the ukulele strumalongs are due to start at the Royal George and the Albany. If you’d like a reason to practice a song or 2 and you’d like to perform it in front of a supportive group of lovely people, why not take this opportunity? It’s free of charge to attend and perform, as it always is at Ukulele Wednesdays, so why not get involved? You don’t need to be a pro. It’s a supportive place to try out a song or two on your own or in a small group. Where do you think the pro’s started out? Everyone’s got to start somewhere!
Once per month on a Wednesday. The Albany will be the 1st Wednesday of the month and the Royal George will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from September 2016.
Albany = 1st Wednesday of the month
Wednesday 7 September
Wednesday 5 October
Wednesday 2 November
George = 3rd Wednesday of the month
Wednesday 21 September
Wednesday 19 October
Wednesday 16 November
For more detailed information and to get involved, please join the relevant facebook group, as below.
How do I sign up to perform? Who do I talk to?
There are limited spots as we’ll only be doing the open mic for the first 30-45 mins of the night. Please shout up sharp(ish) if you want to play. If you want to perform at the Albany, join that facebook group and give Lorraine a shout. If you want to perform at the Royal George, join that facebook group and give Paul a shout. Search the events and post in the events if you can’t see who Lorraine or Paul are at first sight.
Cool. I think that’s everything. Strum with you soon!
Know any more ukulele playing friends in London? Loads of people aren’t on the email list
. For things like this, it’s handy, and getting the news in your inbox on email could save you an inconvenience of going to the wrong venue one week. Please make sure everyone you know is signed up so the news comes straight to yours and their inbox rather than in a social post that you might miss. Perhaps you could forward this email on to let your ukulele jamming friends know about this email list so that they can also join and know straight away if there are important updates like this in the future? Many thanks and look forward to strumming with you.
If you’re not into email, there’s always FB
