Wish the old girl a good one!
My my, how time flies when you’re having fun. Who would have thought that my addiction to replace smoking would last this long, let alone the night itself! As you know, there are 3 venues, at the same time, as we are now back at the Albany!
The Albany has now been refurbished, and it’s lovely in the basement. Plenty of booths and spaces for people to sit. Have you seen the pictures on twitter/facebook? The room is looking nice and it will be great to have a bit of room. So come along, grab some dinner with me from 6:30pm, and the strumming will start from 7:30pm. See you tomorrow?
PS… please do check back here, as there will be some new songs published tomorrow!
An idea of how things used to look. Who knows how it will look on 1st April after the refurbishment? We can’t wait!
I’ve been told, on very good authority that the Albany will be ready for us to return to on Wednesday 1st April. We’ll be bringing the new supplements along for you to play along to, if you want to grab a copy, here’s the first. Ukulele Wednesdays interim supplement v1point3. Come back to this page at 5pm on 1st April, and you should find another one to download to your tablet.
Look forward to seeing you from 6:30pm for food/drinks meeting new people, and strumming starts around 7:30pm.
Join us on the Tamesis Dock on 25th February, 4th March and 11th March.
Let’s be havin’ ye! We’ll be on-board for 3 weeks, so join us on the Tamesis Dock on 25th February, 4th March and 11th March. It’ll be a lot of fun. Bring any pirate, nautical or sailing themed songs along and email a pdf to Lorraine, so she can post it for people to download on here. You might want to dress accordingly, or use the pirate translator to prepare. It’s up to you!
See you there!
PS. Did you get this email?

Here is how much we managed to tab – The 2014 Halloween Ukulele Wednesdays Songbook. For next year, we’d love your help with getting a larger songbook together. Lemme know if you’re keen!
Yes, you did read that right. We’re back at the Albany from next week, on Wednesday 1 October. The Albany is now under new, ukulele friendly Management, who cannot wait to welcome the ‘best night they had’ back to the basement each Wednesday. No doubt there’ll be tasty burgers, and there’s talk of a jagerbomb deal coming out, so watch out for that.
It smells much nicer, as they’ve cleaned up after the leak. The lighting is fixed, and the booths are back in operation. Plenty of room for everyone to sit down and get stuck in! I, for one, can’t wait to get back there, and I hope you’ll all join me. Jagerbombs all round…?
Also – would you like to add new songs to the songbook? And would you like to try out new songs? Well, there’s going to be a new submissions period, between October-January, with the idea of a supplement book to be added by the end of January 2015. Start thinking of songs you’d like to add and let Lorraine know what they are. We’ll start testing them out at the Albany.
So. Grab your songbook, and contact your ukulele playing friends. Bring yourselves and get ready for some giggles back at the Albany.
Look forward to seeing you all next week!
Yes, you read that correctly. The Albany basement has had a leak for a while and is now closed whilst they reinforce it against further leaks, and then the whole pub will close down for a full refurbishment in October. For the foreseeable future we’ll be strumming in 2 venues.
Strum with you soon!
I’m sure you’re already in the Facebook Group, where this was posted, but if not, here you go:
Basically, there’ll be people in Regent’s Park, for those who want to. Or, there’ll be jams also happening indoors at the Albany, the Castle, and at the George.
